Brian Hoffman began playing trumpet in 6th grade beginning band class in Goshen, Indiana. After graduation from Goshen High School, he enlisted in the Army and was assigned to the 36th Army Band in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. After three years of service, Brian enrolled at Butler University in Indianapolis and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in applied music. Then Brian and his wife Amy moved to Denton, Texas, where he began work towards his Masters at North Texas State University. Along the way , Brian completed course work to become certified to teach and student taught with Stewart Verdon in the Grapevine/Colleyville ISD. Brian's first teaching job was at Wichita West High School, later moving to Wichita Northwest High School, where he retired after 28 years in the Wichita Public Schools. Currently, Brian enjoys freelancing on trumpet and teaching a few private lessons in his home studio. He also serves as an adjudicator for KSHSAA at large group and solo/ensemble festivals.
